Last week, our school had the opportunity to attend a performance of The Little Mermaid ballet, an rendition of the familiar fairy tale.
The Little Mermaid ballet was not just an enjoyable performance, it also offered valuable lessons and takeaways for our learners:

1.Students gained an appreciation for ballet as an art form.
2.The ballet illustrated how stories can be conveyed through movement and music.
3.The performance demonstrated the importance of collaboration, as each dancer played a vital role in bringing the story of The Little Mermaid to life.

A big thank you to the Meridian Theatre in Centerpointe for an unforgettable experience!

Spring Fun Blooms in Primary: Games, Gardening, and Ms. Erin’s Class!

Spring has sprung here in the Primary class, and the shift in weather has brought a burst of joyful energy to our classroom!

The students have been enjoying a classic game that encourages both movement and listening skills: “What Time Is It Mr. Wolf?” during their gym class. This engaging activity gets everyone running, counting, and waiting in suspense for the moment Mr. Wolf decides it's dinner time! It's been a fun way to practice time-telling concepts and burn off some of that spring excitement.

We’ve also been digging into some fantastic gardening projects in which the students learn what plants, vegetables and gardens need to grow.

Of course, none of this would be complete without our dedicated Primary teacher, Ms. Erin and our wonderful classroom Educational Assistants, Ms. Zoe, Ms. Olivia and Ms. Emily. The bond between the staff and the students is truly special. The students absolutely love spending time with our amazing staff, whether they are gathered for story time, working on a challenging new skill, or simply laughing during a game of "What Time Is It Mr. Wolf." Their warmth and enthusiasm make the Primary classroom a place where every student feels supported, engaged, and excited to learn each day.

We are looking forward to more sunshine, more growth, and more wonderful memories as we continue through this beautiful spring season!

Wishing everyone a wonderful upcoming weekend!

Pink Shirt Day is observed every year on February 25, offers a powerful way to stand against bullying and promote kindness. This day encourages people to wear pink shirts as a symbol of support for those who face bullying and to raise awareness about the issue. At Phoenix Private Academy our students and staff took part in this topic by wearing pink shirts, pink headbands, socks, shoes, etc.

Since its beginning, Pink Shirt Day has grown into a global movement. The day also sparks conversations that lead to long-term changes in attitudes and behaviors. Wearing pink becomes a symbol of courage and kindness that lasts beyond February 25.

Thank you to all our students and staff for participating in this day and for showing kindness and inclusivity on a daily basis.

Valentine’s Day often brings thoughts of romance, yet it can also be a powerful moment to spread kindness and connection across generations. One inspiring way is through students creating Valentine's cards for residents of retirement homes. This simple act of creativity and care brightens their day.

Students bring fresh energy and creativity to this tradition. Schools and community groups often organize card-making projects where children and teenagers design and write messages for seniors. This involvement benefits both sides:

For students: It teaches empathy, kindness, and the importance of community service. It also provides a chance to practice writing and artistic skills.

For seniors: It offers a tangible reminder of friendship and care from younger generations.

Teachers guided their students to create cards that are cheerful, respectful, and easy to read. Including drawings, colorful decorations, and simple heartfelt notes make them meaningful.

Our students also made some creative crafts to decorate their own classrooms! Happy Valentines Day!

Winterlude offers a unique chance for students to experience the magic of winter in a lively, outdoor setting. A school field trip to this annual festival combines fun, culture, and learning, making it an ideal outing. Adding a stop for Beavertails, the iconic Canadian treat, makes the day even more memorable.

Winterlude is held every February in Ottawa and Gatineau, transforming the city into a winter playground. The festival features ice sculptures, tubing and other winter activities. For students, it’s a chance to enjoy physical activity, appreciate art, and learn about Canadian culture and winter traditions.

Our students had a really fun day with Phoenix staff members and their classmates!
