SDG Impact Stories SDG Impact Stories is first and foremost a community of enablers using storytelling for social and environmental change.

We're a team of driven recent Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) graduates, passionate about tackling global challenges. Our goal is to educate people on the UN SDGs at a large scale and encourage all generations to be part of the change. In February 2022, our team will go on an SDG World Tour of Social Entrepreneurs through 20 countries for 6 months, to educate people on global issues, give visibi

lity to +50 social entrepreneurs and help a few selected companies grow thanks to final year EHL students, who will be working on business cases. There are 3 focuses: Education, Food, and Climate action. Main format: 1.30-2 min "IGTV" videos about each company posted on Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and LinkedIn every week. With the support of amazing organizations such as Ashoka, the UN SDG Lab, The Social Gastronomy Movement, AKDN, EHL, The Knowledge Society, IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, and the UN Development Program who opened their network, we selected some of the most innovative and impactful companies. 🗣 In 2018, there were 60 million primary school-age children who were out of school

In numerous developing countries, many factors prevent children from attending school. These include the costs associated with education, long distances to the closest school, child labor, cultural beliefs, gender and ethnic discrimination. This is especially true for rural communities 📚

The cycle of poverty is also perpetuating because of poor adult literacy rates in the areas. 1 in 5 adults across the globe cannot read or write. Two-thirds of these adults are women. With the ability to read, write and calculate, individuals are able to improve health conditions, become economically independent, and gain a stronger voice in society 🚀

Meet buildOn, an organization founded in 1991 with the mission of breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education, in the US and abroad. To achieve that, buildOn put in place Service Learning Programs in America’s underprivileged schools, and builds primary schools in 8 developing countries.

🗣 Our people and land are our greatest resource, we must care for one another and work together to preserve our ecosystem.

La Place Commune is a non-profit solidarity cooperative created in 2015 in the Parc-Extension neighbourhood in Montreal. Putting people and the planet at the center, they strive to encourage the involvement of the local population for greater urban food autonomy, and support the development of local resources, knowledge, and talents 🚀

They provide a range of services, such as a Vegetarian Restaurant & Café, a zero-waste organic grocery shop, and a sustainable catering service. In addition, they’ve put in place a large number of initiatives to help people put food on the table, develop their creativity, and learn the best practices when it comes to sustainable cooking 👏🏽💚

La Place Commune has notably installed “Le Garde-Manger du Monde”, a community fridge and a bread box regularly filled with surplus or end-of-line products, offered free of charge to residents of the neighbourhood. They offer room rentals at low prices, organize cultural events, and regularly hold workshops on sustainable cooking. On top of that, they’ve developed agricultural projects based on volunteering, where collections are distributed among participating citizens, to partner food banks, and to La Place Commune for free distribution in the community fridge 💯

🗣 Approximately 60% of food produced in Canada is lost or wasted each year, which is worth more than 50 billion USD 🥘🗑️🤯

Managing healthy and nutritious food surplus is a real challenge, especially in the hospitality industry. How can you efficiently predict the amount of food you’ll need ? What do you do with food surplus ? Who can you collaborate with ? 🤔

In 2002, driven by his desire to fight food waste and create a world where everyone has food on their table, Jean-François Archambault founded Tablée des chefs, an organization dedicated to feed people in need and develop culinary education for youth 👩‍🍳

La Tablée des Chefs redirects food surplus to families and individuals who suffer from food insecurity. The organisation collaborates with food surplus donors, such as hotels, restaurants or companies. They help them store the food in proper conditions and connect them to local organisations or food banks who redistribute it to people in need 🫂💕

🗣School is built to mitigate risk, and not necessarily to optimize for self-development

In 2016, driven by the belief that, as a society, we are not optimizing human potential and that more people could work on solving global issues, Navid and Nadeem Nathoo co-founded The Knowledge Society. TKS is a 10-month global accelerator program, that empowers 13 to 17yo to solve some of the world’s biggest problems, including hunger, climate change, access to clean sanitation or quality education 🚀

Meet Thred, UK’s biggest digital media platform designed by Gen Z for Gen Z, shaped by youth culture and powered by social change. In 2017, at the age of 12, Jenk Oz became UK’s youngest CEO as he founded IcoolKid which later became Thred Media 🤯

With the help of dozen impact-driven individuals, he built a platform where young, passionate, creative and curious people from all around the world could inform themselves about challenges that are relevant and important to their generation 🙌🏽🚀

As a former inmate, you don’t get many opportunities, people judge you very quickly and it’s easy to fall back into criminality 🚔

Today, we take you to prison. In 2009, Clink opened the first ever public restaurant within the walls of a prison. Clink gives offenders the chance to pick up new skills by working in a professionally-run prison restaurant. They help inmates develop key skills related to the hospitality industry, encouraging them to get off a fresh start after they made their time in prison 🍽🚀

What is SDG Impact Stories 👀

Shortly before graduating from university in February 2021, the lack of knowledge and awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) inspired to found SDG Impact Stories, an organization whose mission is to boost social and environmental change through storytelling 🌎🎙✨

3 Goals 🎯
👉 Inform people about the SDGs and the most pressing global challenges
👉 Raise awareness about the concept of social entrepreneurship (profit + impact)
👉 Inspire younger generations to pursue an impact-driven career

From February to July 2022, our team completed the first-ever SDG World Tour of Social Entrepreneurs, as we traveled to 20 countries to meet and cover the impact of 50+ entrepreneurs contributing to at least one of the 17 SDGs 🥳

Meet , a decentralized digital platform that seeks to disrupt the entire agricultural value chain, empowering producers by reducing the number of intermediaries, while using storytelling to allow consumers to better understand where the food they purchase come from 🍅🌽🥕

The goal is to align stakeholders around shared values of transparency, trust, and economic equity 🧑‍🌾🤝👩‍💼
