Finn’s First Ride 🖤
Yesterday, we decided it was time for Finn, a three-year-old Warmblood, to graduate from groundwork to mounted work.
After spending time building confidence, trust, and understanding from the ground, his owner quietly mounted from the mounting block while I stayed beside them as Finn’s emotional support human, leading him around on a lead rope.
For a young horse experiencing his very first walk under saddle with a rider, Finn was an absolute superstar. He stood quietly for mounting, walked forward confidently, and took everything in stride.
One of my favourite parts of starting young horses is seeing the payoff from taking the time to build a solid foundation first. There was no rushing, no drama, and no pressure, just a horse who understood the assignment and felt safe enough to try something new.
A huge congratulations to Felicia and Finn on this exciting milestone. This is just the beginning of their journey together, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this pair. ❤️

🙏🏼 A Letter to the Patient Horse 🙏🏼
Dear Patient Horse,
I want you to know that I see you. Every day. I see you watching me while I busily run back and forth in front of your pen, sometimes doing chores, sometimes with another horse in hand. I see you look my way when you hear my voice, and then resume your nap as I walk the other way. I want you to know that I see you.
I see you treat me with patience as I work with you for the first time in a week. I see you as you accept my flaws and try your hardest, even when one of my flaws is that I ask for too much. I see you love me for who I am, even when I’m not at my best. I see you give me the grace I don’t deserve, simply because you’re happy that I’m with you. I want you to know that I see you.
I see you through my window watching the house as I wake up in the morning, promising you that today will be the day we do something together. I see you asking me to be accountable. I haven’t been accountable to you, my friend. I know that. Yet you love me anyway. You wait for me at the gate. You greet me with soft eyes and a kiss on the face.
I see you trying every day. I see you loving me. I hope you know how thankful I am for your patience. I hope you know I’m committed to you, even when it seems like I’m not. I hope you know that even when life seems to keep getting in the way, that you’re my horse and I’m your girl. I want you to know that I see you, I ALWAYS see you...even when it seems like I don’t.
