Honored and grateful today to be promoted to the rank of Brown Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Thank you so much to our Head Instructors Rener and Ryron Gracie for everything they do for us, for Jiu-Jitsu and for the world! Thank you to Alex for testing me (and humbling me!)Thank you to everyone who has trained and helped me along the way.You guys are the best!

To be honest, up until now, this was a was very difficult rank/skill level for me to comprehend, let alone train for.
It was only after achieving purple belt that I began a deep study of Gracie Jiu-Jitsuā€™s 32 Principles. Through learning WHY Jiu-Jitsu was so effective, I could see the Path ahead. The shift in mindset from memory-based learning to Principle-based learning,I realized, is what sets Brown and Black Belts apart.The 32 Principles are what allowed me to refine my skills to reach this level.Whether it was to enhance a technique, escape a tricky spot, improve a movement or make a shift in my approach,once I knew the principles, I could call on them whenever I needed to.
Not just for myself or my technical development, but to be a better instructor to my students.

Sometimes you have to keep moving forward, even if the goal seems out of reach.
