PACE Ontario is the first provincial hub within CDC’s national PACE network. As the Founding Academic and Research Partner, Ontario Tech will connect researchers, students, industry and technology innovators to advance physical AI through applied research, commercialization, talent development and industry adoption.

From robotics and intelligent automation to autonomous systems and advanced manufacturing, physical AI is transforming how we live and work. What does the future of nuclear energy look like? For Ontario Tech graduate students, it looks like hands-on learning, industry connections and seeing classroom knowledge come to life.

This summer, graduate students from across disciplines travelled to Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) in Chalk River as part of the Graduate Immersive Experience Program and Ontario Tech's Academic Partnership Program. They toured advanced research facilities, connected with scientists and engineers, and explored the careers driving Canada's nuclear industry.

What did our undergraduate researchers do this summer? 👀🔬 They asked questions, explored new ideas, gained hands-on experience and contributed to research across Ontario Tech.

Supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the research program offers our students the opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom and work alongside leading faculty members. Ontario Tech University Faculty of Business and Information Technology's Dr. Patrick Hung, Dr. Silas Alves and Hao-An Tseng introduced Brando, an AI-enabled robot dog developed in collaboration with CNIB .

Brando is designed to help people with sight loss build familiarity, skills and confidence before working with a guide dog.

By bringing together artificial intelligence, robotics and community collaboration, this project is helping create practical solutions to accessibility
