Years of homeschooling paying off...
A group of older kids came to the playground on lunch break. No adults around..
The swearing, the name-calling, the inappropriate games, the yelling, spitting... My kids saw all of it...
And instead of joining in, they looked at me. We talked about it right there. What they noticed, how it felt, why kids act like that when nobody's watching, what would my kids do...
I am not sheltering them from the world, but I am not normalizing this behavior by exposing them every day to it , I am raising kids who know how to behave when no one's watching, who don't follow the crowd, who choose to be the example...
& a lot of people might say .. well, not everyone is privileged enough to Homeschool.. I am a Solo mom of 2.. no help from their dad, no child support, no family in Canada to step in..
I built my life, my business, around the kids to make it happen..
I don't drive or own a car, I meal prep, I run my home like a business with systems to be able to afford staying home with them...
When you are committed to break cycles, you do what you have to do to make it happen!
I am not saying all public schools are bad, but where I live, there is no way I would put my kids there !
