🎶 A friendly reminder: Speak life. ✨

Singing is speaking — just in rhythmic and melodic form.

And our words matter.

Our word is our wand.
Our word is law.
Our word is bond.

So what are we speaking — and singing — into our lives?

More of what’s wrong?
More of what we don’t want?
Or more of what is beautiful, possible, joyful and worth noticing?

Sing of good things.
Sing of happy things.
Speak life into your life. ✨

And whew… apparently I’m preaching to myself today too. 😂🙋🏾‍♀️

Over the past few days, I’ve been speaking to a very real experience:

The woman who is capable, responsible, and always holding it together…

But quietly tired.

The woman whose mind doesn’t fully switch off,
Even when she finally has a moment to rest.

And if you’ve been feeling that…

I want to say this gently, but honestly:

You don’t need more discipline.

You don’t need to “push through” better.

You need space.

Space to breathe.
Space to reset.
Space to come back to yourself.

And that’s exactly what this retreat is here for.

Over the past few days, I’ve been sharing reflections about something many women experience quietly:

The feeling of always holding everything together.
The difficulty of truly slowing down.
The mind that never fully turns off.

And the truth is…

Most of us were never taught how to come back to ourselves.

We learned how to keep going.
How to push through.
How to stay responsible.

But not how to pause.
Not how to regulate.
Not how to feel safe in stillness.

That conversation is what inspired something we’ve been creating.

A space where women don’t have to perform, produce, or prove anything.

Just breathe.
Just be.

Yesterday I shared a reflection about something many capable women experience quietly:

The feeling of always holding everything together.

But there is a deeper truth behind that experience.

Many high-functioning women have trained their nervous system to stay alert.

Not because they want to live in stress…

But because responsibility asked them to.

When you’re the one people rely on
When you’re used to solving problems
When you’re always thinking ahead

Your mind learns to stay “on.”

Even during moments that are supposed to be restful.

So you sit down to relax…

But your thoughts keep moving.

Planning.
Replaying.
Preparing for what’s next.

This isn’t a personal flaw.

It’s a nervous system pattern.

And the truth many women discover later in life is this:

Learning how to slow down is a skill.

Not something we were taught.

Over the next couple of days I’ll be sharing more about how we can begin reconnecting with stillness again.

Because calm isn’t something outside of us.

It’s something the body remembers when we create space for it.

Take one slow breath today.

That alone is a powerful beginning.

Sometimes the strongest women are also the most tired.

Not because they are weak.
But because they carry so much.

They are the ones who organize things.
Solve problems.
Support others.
Hold families together.
Show up even when their own energy is low.

They keep moving forward because responsibility calls.

But somewhere in the quiet moments…
their mind keeps going.

Thinking.
Planning.
Replaying.
Trying to stay ahead of everything.

And the truth is… even when they sit down to rest, their nervous system hasn’t learned how to slow down yet.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

There are many women walking around looking capable on the outside, while inside they are quietly longing for a moment of stillness.

A moment to breathe.

A moment to simply be.

Over the next few days, I want to share a few reflections about something many high-functioning women experience but rarely talk about:
the quiet exhaustion of always being the one who holds it all together.

Take a breath with me today.

You deserve moments of peace too.

It was an honour to open Black History Month at Trent University through music and message—setting the tone for Rosemary Sadlier’s powerful keynote.

Deep gratitude to Elisha MacMillan, Coordinator of Student Transition & Equity Education, for the invitation and for creating space where art, history, and community meet.

A room gathered in reflection, learning, and shared presence—Black history held not just in words, but in community.

I performed an original song on unity as a pathway to peace and progression—because music can open hearts before words ever land.

Especially meaningful to continue these conversations at home—reading The Kids Book of Black History in Canada with my son and honouring the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black Canadians across generations. 🤎✊🏾

Thank you, Trent University, for holding space for remembrance, reflection, and forward movement.

Honored to be part of the Black History Month Launch Celebration 🤍

This gathering is about remembering, honoring, and moving forward—together. It’s about history, leadership, and the shared humanity that connects us all.

I’ll be performing my original song “Conquer by Divide”—a piece about solidarity, harmony, and the strength that emerges when we choose unity over separation. Music has a way of saying what words alone cannot, and this one carries a message I deeply believe in.

📅 February 2, 2026
🕐 1:00–3:00 p.m.
📍 Trent University Durham GTA, Oshawa

Featuring keynote speaker Rosemary Sadlier, with space for community, reflection, and connection.

This moment matters. Presence matters. Each other matters.

If you’re nearby, I’d love to see you there 🤍
