The District 8 Chess Challenge and the District 6 Chess Challenge have recently finished. Around 200 players ranged from kindergarten to grade 12 participated in these two events. Congratulations to 14 "Sam Chess Club" members who placed in the top 3 in these competitions! 🤗 They will be representing district 8 and 6 in the upcoming provincial chess challenge in April 2018! Last Saturday, the Maritime Chess Challenge 2017 was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Many of the "Sam Chess Club" members attended, and a few members finished first place! Congratulations to the champions of the top three category:
Grade 4 - 6: Kiro Veljanovski
Grade 7 - 9: Tony Wu (Perfect score)
Grade 10 - 12: Sam Song (Perfect score)

The fall season of Sam Chess Club has just ended! We had great participation and engagements from the members. In the fall season tournament, Andy Huang, a fresh member who just recently started to play chess, stormed to victory with a perfect score against the senior members of the club and claiming first place. Congratulations to Linke Xie who won the junior prize in the club competition.

The 29th Annual Canadian Chess Challenge was held from May 21st - 22nd in Toronto, Ontario. The grade 1 - 12 provincial champions from 10 different provinces across Canada were invited to participate in this event. After two days of a total of 9 well-fought chess games, our coach of the club, Sam Song, won second place for grade 11 and MVP (most valuable player) of the tournament :D.

The Annual New Brunswick Chess Challenge was held at Bernice McNaughton High School in Moncton yesterday! A total of 344 players from Kingergarten to Grade 12 participated in this chess tournament!
Players/Students from Sam Chess Club finished with great results. Ten of them received top 3 in the provincials. Five of these players won first place in their grades!
All Grade champions from each province will be advancing to the 29th Annual Canadian Chess Challenge at Toronto University in Ontario, Canada! Congratulations to these players and good luck at Nationals!! :)

The District 6 Scholastic Chess Tournament is finished today! There is a total of 70 players playing in the tournament, and 7 players are from the Sam Chess Club! All the players from the Sam Chess Club played very well! Good job!

The Maritime Scholastic Chess Tournament was finished today! Team New Brunswick captures gold by beating team P.E.I by only 1 point. Team P.E.I came second, and team Nova Scotia came third.

Sam Song is teaching kids Chess at the Multicultural Centerr- Nov/8th/2016. The lessons are all free (Sam is giving back to the community), anyone is welcome.
