Once again I will remind folx to be mindful of polarizing conversations : we have lost capacity for conversation with nuance. There can be more than one truth at the same time. As we watch the coverage of the circus at the UN… be mindful of the impact on Jewish friends and neighbours right here in your community. We can believe that Netanyahu is a goon and bully and disagree with Israeli policy and actions and at the same time condemn hate and attacks on the Jewish community throughout Ontario including in Belleville and right here in Durham The silence around the massive level of violence against the Jewish community is not okay. Threats, shootings , police protection at synagogues and in Jewish neighbourhoods being required and the Jewish community living in fear is not okay. Silence and the lack of condemning this hate is also not okay! This post is not about Netanyahu, the actions of Israel or Zionism. This post is about humanity and our lack of empathy for friends and neighbours who are suffering Nobody in Canada should feel unsafe at community centres or places of worship. No place for hate!

This workshop is coming together nicely !

Working on developing a new workshop for Metcalfe Equity Consulting on how to navigate anti oppression conversations in today’s socio-political climate. In it we will critically explore some of the historic failings of the social justice movement , the reasons contributing to its backlash and how we found ourselves here. It will then centre concepts of collectivism and how to bring humanity back to these conversations to dismantle polarization, meet people where they are at and move forward in a good way. Working title: What would Dolly Do. (WWDD).

Durham local politics has become very nasty. Those who have taken my workshops have heard me talk for years that the far right and white supremacy here in Canada are more organized than ever.

They have been planning for years to access power through local Municipalities This is happening throughout Canada and Durham is no exception.

It is more important than ever to turn out and vote! It doesn’t take many votes to access these positions and the far right has placed candidates in all cities from Pickering to Clarington.

Please vote and keep these dangerous folx out of local government. I am not going to release names of who NOT to vote for but I will be sharing candidates I believe we must ensure are either re-elected or elected for the first time.

This is not the time to assume the bad candidates won’t get in. Please vote !
