There’s something a little bittersweet about this time of year.
Every year, our bigs grow up. They pack up all the confidence, independence and memories they’ve collected here, and head off to their next big adventure — school. 🎒
Suddenly, there are some pretty big shoes to fill.
So in come the littles. 🥹
Tiny backpacks. Tiny legs trying to keep up. New routines to learn, new friendships to make, and a whole new little world to figure out.
Right now, they’re the ones watching. Following. Learning where things belong, how our days flow, how to walk with the group, how to wait for a turn, how to be brave when something is new... and learning a hundred other little things that probably don’t look like much from the outside.
But I know better. ❤️ I’ve watched this cycle happen over and over again.
The littles who once needed a hand to hold eventually become the bigs reaching back for someone else.
The ones who once stood quietly and watched are suddenly the ones showing a new friend how things are done.
And those tiny little shoes?
Somehow, little by little, they grow into those big ones we thought would be so hard to fill 🥹
So here we go again...
A brand new little crew, with so much learning, growing, adventuring and becoming ahead of them.
They may have some big shoes to fill...
but they’ve already started. 💛🌿

✨ Nominated Again! ✨
I’m so excited to share that Little Dreamers Childcare has been nominated again this year in the CommunityVotes - Fredericton in TWO categories:
🌿 Childcare Services
🌿 Daycare
You can vote once a day, and we would be so grateful for your support! ❤️
More than anything, thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate me and who continues to recognize the work, love, planning (and chaos 😂) that goes into spending my days with these littles.
I’m incredibly lucky to do what I do, and it means so much knowing that the work happening here each day doesn’t go unnoticed.
Thank you for always cheering Little Dreamers on! 🥰🌿

There’s just something different about play when children get their hands on the real thing.
Real pots, bowls, utensils, appliances and everyday objects invite the littles to explore how the world actually works. They encourage curiosity, problem solving, independence and some pretty incredible imaginative play.
A discarded microwave might not look like much to an adult… but in a play space, it can become a kitchen, a restaurant, a bakery, a science experiment—or apparently the perfect place to cook a basket full of rocks 😆😆
Whenever it’s safe and possible, give them the real stuff. Real things make for really good play. 🌿

🕊️ In Loving Memory of the Little Dreamers Wagon 🕊️
2022 – 2026
It is with great sadness (and honestly, a little surprise that it lasted this long) that we announce the passing of our beloved daycare wagon
For four long years, this absolute unit gave us everything it had.
It travelled through the woods.
It went through mud, snow, leaves and puddles.
It was dragged through ditches and over roots.
It rolled down hills — sometimes intentionally.
It hauled children, backpacks, water bottles, treasures, sticks, rocks, and approximately 47 lbs of completely unnecessary forest findings.
It worked through all four seasons, asked for no vacation days, received absolutely no benefits, and was routinely loaded well beyond what any reasonable wagon should have been expected to tolerate.
The forest has finally claimed her where one wheel that simply said, "I'm done."
Thank you for your service, old girl. 🫡
May you rest peacefully somewhere flat, dry, and nowhere near a ditch 😆😆

🌎 TRY IT TUESDAY: Snack Passport Edition!
Today we apparently cleared customs and headed straight for the snack aisle 😆
On the menu: brown sugar rice cakes, coconut pudding, hazelnut wafers, chocolate mousse cubes and Fruittella!
There were bites taken, opinions formed, eyebrows raised and absolutely zero hesitation in letting me know which ones should never cross our borders again 🫠🫠
Another Try It Tuesday in the books! ✈️🍫🍬

We've been keeping a close eye on the bird's nest in our backyard, waiting patiently for our feathered friend to make an appearance.
The littles decided waiting was taking far too long... so naturally, they built their own nest instead!
Construction materials included: leaves, sticks, gravel, and one very important bright blue rock. Apparently every good bird needs a pop of colour. 💙
Now we're just waiting to see if any birds approve of the new "luxury model." 🐦🏡

🌎 Try It Tuesday 🌎
Today's menu had the kids asking, "We're eating WHAT?!"
Seaweed ✔️
Purple potato chips ✔️
Yogurt drinks ✔️
Strawberry pastries ✔️
Chocolate ✔️
Some foods got two thumbs up 👍, some got one tiny nibble 🤏, and one or two may have been met with Oscar-worthy dramatic faces. 😆
That's what Try It Tuesday is all about... being brave enough to try something new! ❤️🍴

🌎✈️ Try It Tuesday: Around the World Edition!
This week our little food adventurers packed their taste buds and traveled the world... without ever leaving daycare!
On today's menu we sampled: 🍬 Pink Candy Popcorn (Canada) 🍅 Ketchup Crispy Minis 🍉 Watermelon with a sprinkle of cinnamon 🥜 Khatta Meetha (an Indian sweet & savoury snack mix) 🍯 Mini Gulab Jamun 🤍 Mini Rasgulla
There were some enthusiastic thumbs up and a few very thoughtful "no thank yous" because we don't yuck someone elses yum.
We talked about trying new foods, how different cultures enjoy different flavours, and that it's okay if something isn't your favourite after giving it a try.
Trying new things helps us build brave taste buds... and sometimes we discover a brand new favourite!
