It's quiet in the school but it's busy outdoors. A monarch caterpillar is munching on milkweed. 🦋 Butterflyweed, echinacea, blue vervain, and yarrow are blooming and welcoming pollinators too.

We're looking for local arborists to donate loads of fresh wood chips for a food forest project at Châteauguay Valley Regional High School in Ormstown.

Your wood chips will be used to suppress weeds, improve soil health, conserve moisture, and help establish a thriving outdoor classroom that will provide fresh fruit, support local wildlife, and inspire environmental stewardship for generations of students.

If you're working in the area and need a place to dump a load of untreated wood chips, we'd be grateful for your support. Every load makes a real difference.

Thanks to members of 1st Ormstown Scouts for helping with maintenance of one of the mini Miyawaki forests on campus. The team threw away litter, tidied the buckets that are no longer needed for watering, pulled out grass that was creeping in from the lawn, laid down old newspapers before refreshing the mulch and resetting the border logs, and trimmed some of the elderberries and willows to allow more sunlight to reach the other trees.

🏃‍♀️ Celebrating an Extraordinary Educator, Coach, and Leader 🏀

After more than three decades of dedicated service, CVR bids a heartfelt farewell to an extraordinary educator, mentor, coach, and colleague, Terri Marino, as she begins her well earned retirement. ❤️

📚 Since starting her teaching career in 1993, Terri has made an immeasurable impact on our school community. Throughout the years, she taught mathematics, physical education, and even a few unique and memorable courses that students still fondly recall. As Athletic Director for more than 15 years, she helped shape the athletic culture at CVR, coaching field hockey, basketball, and track and field while inspiring generations of student athletes to strive for excellence both on and off the field. 🏑🏀🏃‍♀️

🏆 Terri was also one of the driving forces behind the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie at CVR, represented our school at the SSIAA and RSEQ levels, and played a leading role as both organizer and Master of Ceremonies for our annual Sports Awards Banquet. As a Physical Education teacher and longtime Department Head, she touched the lives of countless students, whether they considered themselves athletes or not. Her encouragement, enthusiasm, and unwavering belief in every student left a lasting impression that extends far beyond the gymnasium. 💙

🤝 As a colleague, Terri was always generous with her time, knowledge, and support. She was someone others could always count on, whether lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or stepping up when it mattered most. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was among a dedicated group of teachers who came together to support frontline workers throughout the Valley, demonstrating the compassion and community spirit that have always defined her. ❤️

🌟 Terri leaves behind a remarkable legacy of leadership, dedication, and kindness. While she will be deeply missed by students, staff, alumni, and friends, we are excited for all that lies ahead.

💐 On behalf of the entire CVR community, we thank you, Terri, for your years of service, your passion, and the countless lives you have enriched. We wish you every happiness, continued good health, and many wonderful adventures and surprises as you begin this exciting new chapter.
