The Strat Plus was Fender's high-end production Strat of the late '80s, packed with technology that was seriously ahead of its time. The Gold Lace Sensors were designed to deliver that classic single-coil character while dramatically reducing the dreaded 60-cycle hum.

And here's where the story gets REALLY interesting…

The same Lace Sensor technology and tone-control concepts became a major part of the development of Eric Clapton's legendary 1988 Stratocaster! 🎸🔥
