People laugh because I own at least eight different sun hats…

But every time I head to the beach, work in the garden, or sit by the pool, I reach for this one.

This faded blue cap.

I’ve worn it for at least eight years—probably longer. It’s certainly not the newest, and it isn’t the fanciest. It’s faded from years in the sun. But every time I leave the house, this is the one I choose.

Why?

Because it’s comfortable. It’s dependable. It’s become part of so many memories that reaching for anything else just doesn’t feel right.

It got me thinking about Studio III Dance.

Every year families have choices. There are new studios, different programs, and many places where a child can dance. Yet we have dancers who have been with us since they were tiny, and now we’re welcoming former dancers back through our doors with children of their own.

That kind of loyalty isn’t something you can buy or advertise. It’s earned over years of trust, caring teachers, shared milestones, friendships, laughter, hard work, and a community that feels like home.

Just like my favourite old cap, sometimes what keeps us coming back isn’t because it’s new—it’s because it’s where we feel we belong.

To every family who has trusted us for one year, ten years, or even a generation… thank you. Your loyalty means more than you know. 💜💚

✨ Summer training is where dancers grow! ✨

We are so proud that one of our dancers is currently attending the Ballet Jörgen Summer Program, and next week another of our senior dancers will be joining the program as well.

Professional summer intensive programs are an incredible opportunity for dancers. They provide the chance to train with experienced faculty, meet dancers from across the country, experience new teaching styles, and challenge themselves in a positive and inspiring environment. The growth that happens in just a week or two can be amazing!

Summer intensives have always held a special place in my heart. As a young dancer growing up in Thunder Bay, I was fortunate to travel each summer to continue my training. I attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Summer School, the Diana Jablokova-Vorps Toronto Summer School in Dance, the York University six-week Summer Dance Program, and spent two weeks each summer at the Thunder Bay Society’s Summer Dance School, where I had the privilege of learning from outstanding teachers such as Brian Foley and Joyce Shietze.

Those experiences helped shape me not only as a dancer, but also as a teacher and studio director. They taught me independence, perseverance, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

At Studio III Dance, we encourage our dancers to take advantage of opportunities like these whenever they can. There is always something new to learn, and every experience helps them grow both as dancers and as individuals.

We are so excited that our dancers are continuing this tradition of expanding their training beyond the studio walls. We can’t wait to hear all about their experiences and see everything they bring back to Studio III Dance this fall.

We’re excited to have Kristen Gamache leading this class! Kristen is LP Productions’ resident choreographer, wearing many hats within the company as a director, music director, and summer camp leader. She is also the co-writer and choreographer for Theatre Orangeville’s CLD program and is an accomplished actress, dancer, and singer. Her passion for the performing arts inspires students to grow both on and off the stage.

Many of our senior dancers began in our preschool classes at just 3 or 4 years old. Today, they are taking Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams, performing en pointe, and, most importantly, they still love coming to dance each week.
