Homeschool like a Mom

Hello! I am a homeschooling mother of 4 children. I hope you enjoy the journey with me!

I thought to make this page to help those that are considering homeschooling, or are already homeschooling and would like a little bit of encouragement!

We'll never get these days back.

Our children.. Ourselves..

A reminder that we are all different and to honor those differences amongst us..

I’m not going to write a huge caption today. I think the message on this slide is quite clear 🖤

Sometimes, when our child appears to behave in the most unlovable of ways, that’s when they actually need our love the most 🖤🖤🖤

It all starts at home.

My family and I needed a little getaway. Perks of homeschooling is we could easily just pick up and go somewhere for a few days without being stuck in traffic or worrying about any after school activities that would be missed. We found this adorable little cottage that I just had to share with you. Check out the link, if you are visiting Canada, or live there, it's a great little getaway.

Hug your kids extra tight tonight.

People often say to me, "you can't keep your children in a bubble". And I reply, "it's not a bubble, it's a greenhouse."

A bubble stifles growth and blocks out nutrients. A greenhouse provides an environment for cultivation.

Children’s hearts need to be “greenhoused” before they’re ready to be transplanted out into the world. We release when their roots are deep and they are mature enough to withstand the storms, not beforehand.

While they're still under our protection, we take the responsibility for engaging them in learning about different cultures, ideologies and values. They should only know worldly teachings enough that they will be inoculated against them.

It's neither parenting out of fear or legalism, nor going to the opposite extreme of being too permissive.

No, our kids shouldn't grow up in a bubble. But they shouldn't be left exposed to the harsh outside elements, either.

The greenhouse of our home has all the right conditions for those young seeds to grow and flourish.

Don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses, because the Joneses are NOT raising your children...YOU are

We're all different. With different needs. Facing different situations. With different strengths. Different finances. Different interests. Different goals.

Do what is right for you and your family. Not any one else's.

Honour the individual needs of your children and provide whatever resources that will allow them grow, learn and thrive, comfortable in their own skin.

Embrace the uniqueness of your family, because that's what makes you all you, and the uniqueness of the Joneses is what makes them, them.
