This week, Canadian Mental Health Week, students at École Deer Meadow School participated in a variety of meaningful activities to promote the importance of mental health and wellness throughout the Town of Olds. Mental Health Week encourages communities across Canada to build connection, kindness, and well-being.

On Monday, our Grade 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Kwesi Millington. Kwesi shared powerful messages about overcoming adversity, leading with confidence, and thriving under pressure. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Kiwanis Club for providing an amazing lunch, and to Holy Trinity Catholic School for helping organize this impactful event.

On Friday, the entire École Deer Meadow School community participated in an event hosted by the YES (Youth Empowerment and Support) Program. This annual event, Let’s Chalk About It, provides students with a meaningful opportunity to spread positive and uplifting messages throughout the community using chalk art. Through creativity and connection, students helped promote kindness, inclusion, and mental wellness across Olds.

We would also like to thank Westview Co-op for their generous donation to help provide lunch for our entire school, as well as the Kiwanis Club and Town Council of Olds for helping cook and serve hot dogs for everyone involved.
