Reed Ranch School

First Rider Event is next week in Olds if anyone is interested in helping their little ones on the bus.

Children and their parents are invited to participate in the annual First Rider event, which introduces young children and their parents to school bus safety. The First Rider event starts August 11th, is free to attend, and is based in four Central Alberta communities: Red Deer, Olds, Rocky Mountain House and Drayton Valley. On the last day of school the grade 1/2 class made underground designs on how to escape the school!

Reed Ranch School had a full day of learning and fun at our dairy farm tour on Tuesday. We visited both Vanden Broek Farms, giving us the opportunity to see a rotary milking parlor, and a robotic dairy operation. To top off our visit, a calf was born during our visit! Thank you Vanden Broek families for being the best hosts!

As part of our social studies unit on government, the grade 3 and 4 students welcomed our School Board Trustee Kathy Kemmere, and local county councilor Jennifer Lutz to come and speak to us. Students learned about our school division and what the role of trustees are, and about county governance and the importance of voting and running for positions. A big thank you to these ladies for coming out to speak to our kids!

A big thank you to our Parent Council for the delicious ice cream treats after our last swim lesson at Olds Aquatic Centre! Our students worked hard in the pool, and the sweet surprise was the perfect way to celebrate their accomplishments. We appreciate your generosity and support!

A very rainy day didn't stop Noble Equipment in Olds from coming out to BBQ hotdogs for students! Whether you live on a farm or not, having equipment show up at your school to check out is pretty darn fun! Thank you Noble Equipment! We appreciate your efforts to come out to our school. What a great community connection!

After 3 exciting weeks, the eggs finally hatched! 🐣 We loved learning all about the hatching process and were thrilled to spend a day enjoying our adorable new chicks. It was an unforgettable hands-on experience that brought our learning to life!

We sure had some creative kids for “Anything but a backpack” day!

Our field trip to Barney’s Adventure Park was fantastic! SO much to do! Perfect weather! And…we had the park ALL to ourselves as we were the only school booked in. Here is a sampling of our day. More to follow as other photos are shared.
