What an exciting milestone! Last night marked our first monthly Moccasin House meeting in our new home at the Olds Moccasin House Friendship Centre. We were also honored to have John and Suzanne Sinclair with us to smudge our space and gift us with prayers. We're looking forward to opening to the public in the coming weeks. Follow our page for updates and announcements as we prepare to celebrate with a Grand Opening!

Have you seen this years design for Orange Shirt Day shirts created by Rhiannon DeLuca? Rhiannon DeLuca is a young Métis artist from District 3. The artwork honours Phyllis Webstad’s story. Orange Shirt Day is rooted in Phyllis’s story, and Rhiannon felt this was a beautiful way to honour her experience. Join us in recognizing Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to remember and honour the children who were taken from their families and communities and sent to residential schools, while reflecting on the lasting impact on Indigenous peoples. It is also a day to come together in recognition, awareness, and support of the message that Every Child Matters.

All proceeds from purchases of the new designs through Mountain West Promotions will go directly to the Mountain View Moccasin House.

Orders will be ready for pickup at the BGC Olds & Area main building by September 25th. You will receive an email when your order is ready.

We also have limited past stock available in children, youth, and adult sizes. Limited sizes and designs are still available at the main centre. Shirts are $10.00 and hoodies are $20.00.

On Truth and Reconciliation Day, we honor the survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never came home, and stand with Indigenous communities across Alberta and Canada. Reconciliation is not just a word, it is a commitment to understanding the truth, acknowledging the past, and working together toward a better future.

May we lead with compassion, respect, and a willingness to learn.
