What we teach is not a sport, but a method of using the mind, body and spirit to better ourselves in our training, as well as our daily life. Taekwon!
Studies have shown that children in Taekwon-Do have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks and a higher sense of self-esteem. Many doctors have prescribed Taekwon-Do because of the positive outlet it gives children for all of their energy. At Morningstar Taekwon-Do we promote good behavior and we expect the same at home and in school. For adults T

Ji Do Kwan “Way of Wisdom Institute”
GM Chun Sang Sup is considered to be one of the earliest Koreans to bring Japanese Karate to Korea. At the age of seventeen, GM Chun moved to Japan and attended the Takushoku University where he enrolled in the Karate program there under Gichin Funakoshi (Karate Founder) and his son Yosh*taka Gigo Funakoshi. There is conflicting information however; that suggests that he studied Shudokan under Shudokan Founder Toyama Kanken. Before the end of WW2, Master, Lee Kyung Suk founder of Yun Moo Kwan hired GM Chun to teach Karate at the Yun Moo Kwan Yudo (Judo) Dojang which was one of the few martial arts schools the Japanese occupying forces allowed to remain open during their occupation.
In 1946, after WW2, GM Chun moved locations and opened the Yun Moo Kwan Kong Soo Do which focused on teaching only Karate. During the Korean war (1950-1953) all Martial Arts schools were closed or were forced underground. GM Chun Sang Sup disappeared during the Korean conflict and subsequently from Taekwon-Do`s history. In 1953, GM Chun’s disciple, Yun Kwae Byung took the reins and eventually reopened the School under the new name "Ji Do Kwan" (Way of Wisdom Institute). The Ji Do Kwan would eventually come under the banner of Taekwon-Do in 1955.
