This week former clients sent me a wonderful family picture. They thanked me for helping them through their separation with mediation. "Without you, Dawn, we would not be celebrating together today. Thank you for teaching us how to put the children first during our separation."

Stresses of the pandemic challenge relationships at the core. Accomodations, concessions and changes are required to survive times such as these. Parenting and home schooling, lack of social interactions, usual activities and stress relievers place intimate relationships on pins and needles. Take this time to work on being a better communicator, support and cheerleader for your partner.

I would like to thank Fred Scheuer, President (and founder) of Intrigue Media, for nominating me for Entrepreneur of the Year, Oakville Awards for Business Excellence.
Fred has been working with me to move Cornerstone Mediation forward not only as a business but as an integral part of a healthy community in the Oakville area for the past few years. After 17 years in business I was fortunate to met Fred, through business. Fred is a dedicated professional, an astute businessman and a good person with integrity.
Thank you Fred.

I met a wondeful child this week. Her parents were former clients of mine but I had never met the child before today. I was very touched during this much needed converstion when she told me that her life was awesome now and that she wanted to thank me for helping her parents see that she needed both of them in her life.
I had been having a very challenging week, so much so that I began to question my desire to continue dealing with high conflict families and that perhaps 17 years was my threshold. I had received a threat, watched a couple "lawyer up" and head off to do battle in court "at whatever cost" and observed a broken child sit quietly while her father berated me out of sheer anger, only because he had lost his ability to control everyone around him.
And then this child, seemingly out of nowhere, thanked me. Such simple words yet so profound in meaning to me, especially at that impactful point in time.
I remembered her parents from long ago, they were so full of hate they could not see what they were doing to their own child. Eventually they did listen to me and this day was the proof.
Thank you to all the wonderful children who speak up for what is right and good. And thank you to this extraordinary child who reminded me why I continue to do this work.

I have been doing extensive training for Elder & Elder Care Mediation. With the population shift towards more elderly than young people plus longer life spans the need to care for our elderly is a job most often left to the family. Stress of this caregiving is big when added to the existing challenges of family and work life. Caregiving is done out of love and respect for the elderly, mediation helps bring disconnected family members together to assist both the caregiver and the elder.
