SPRING PLEASE COME SOON & HELP US HAVE STROLLER NAPS!!!!

More and more often I receive questions and concerns from concerned families that baby is only sleeping for 30 or 40 mins for daytime naps. A bit of help to understand what is happening and how to cope!
It is very 'normal' for babies to take short naps and have short wake windows. Developmentally naps do not become more predictable, lengthy and scheduled until 6++ months of age. It is not until your baby has passed through the 4-5 month sleep regression that he will be capable of nap training and increase the length of daytime napping.
IN THE MEANTIME....
If spring would ever arrive, try a stroller ride for a nap, especially nearing the end of the day when napping may be more difficult to achieve. It's helpful for everyone to breathe in some fresh air and it may help baby to stay asleep a bit longer.
Practice 'Drowsy But Awake' at first nap of the day, when baby is not yet overtired from a long day.
Try moving in about 5 mins prior to the usual wake point in sleep cycle and see if you can soothe baby back to sleep attempting to fuse sleep cycles together. Contact me [email protected] to schedule a sleep call.

Time For Bed!!
Join FB group http://www.facebook.com/groups/471711226359797/ for sleep advice and support.
Bed "time" really depends on age, when babies are young it is more important to follow wake windows and determine based on sleepy cues. Some days may be slightly earlier than other, based on daytime nap averages and the wake window from the end of last nap, until bedtime. Older children are more scheduled and routined so a set time can be more easily managed. Either way EARLY BEDTIME is always recommended, you want to avoid an overtired little one!

WINTER SLEEP TIPS:
- a winter sleep sack, don't over layer or overheat
- baby's room temp between 68-70 degrees
- consider a bath time morning instead, a warm bath at night increases body temp making sleep more difficult to achieve
- sing song in the morning, lights on and fling open the blinds (even to a little daylight), it's important to set physical cues that morning is here!
