On Thursday, Fern Hill Oakville students proudly wore their House colours and came together for an exciting World Cup-themed Sports Day. Throughout the day, students competed in a variety of creative events inspired by countries from around the world, including Brazilian Balloon Bonanza, Saudi Arabia Soccer Showdown, Portuguese Penalty Kicks, and an energetic Cheer-Off to close the day.

A very special thank you to the FHPA for helping make the day so memorable. From the delicious bbq and refreshing freezies to capturing photos and supporting the event from start to finish, their generosity and enthusiasm helped create a wonderful experience for all of our students. Once again we would like to express our gratitude for their partnership and all you do to make Fern Hill such a special school!

What an incredible celebration of creativity, talent, and community! This week, Oakville was transformed into a vibrant gallery and performance space as students proudly showcased their artistic and musical talents at our annual YAY for Monet! FHS Art Show 2026. Families had the opportunity to experience a stunning Impressionism-inspired installation celebrating the works of Claude Monet, explore our students’ retrospective gallery filled with imagination and skill, and enjoy the beautiful sounds of our Grade Bands and Wind Orchestra during the special Sights & Sounds evening performance. Visitors also had the opportunity to complete a scavenger hunt!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Ms. Kean, Ms. Coleman, Mr. Barker and classroom teachers for bringing this memorable event to life, and to our students for sharing their creativity so confidently and joyfully with our community!

Our Fern Hill Chorus shared their program at PODIUM this past week, and the response has been overwhelming. We are so incredibly proud of what these students brought to the stage.

“Every human on that stage was completely engaged… a highlight of the conference.”
“Touching, uplifting and truly inspiring.”
“Sounded incredibly special.”
“One of the best moments of the conference.”

These students showed what it means to sing with focus, joy, and a real connection to the music and to each other.

We’re sharing a few moments here, and we’ve included the full performance from our family and friends concert before we left for those who would like to watch: https://youtu.be/_0n-uRXqxeM

We couldn’t be prouder of our students 💚🎶

🐝 Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

At Fern Hill, our students have the unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the incredible world of bees through visits to our school hives with beekeeper Dave each fall and spring. During these sessions, students explore the important role bees play in pollination and the health of our ecosystems, discover the different roles bees have within the colony, learn how honey is extracted, and even get to taste fresh honey from the hives!

This year, the Oakville campus also launched our Beekeeping Club, where students and parents work together to help care for the bees beyond the regular hive observation workshops available to all students.

Through these hands-on experiences, students are developing a lasting respect for the important work bees do every day. What an un-BEE-lievable opportunity!

Our Fern Hill Chorus is headed to PODIUM 2026 this week! 🎶✈️

As we get ready for Victoria, we’ve been reflecting on what an incredible journey this has been for our students. From vocal assessments and rehearsals, to performances for family and friends and at University of Toronto, these singers have worked so hard and grown so much together.

One of the most meaningful parts of this experience has been the opportunity to workshop and learn directly with each of the composers whose music we’ll be performing at Podium. What an incredible experience for these young musicians.

The Oakville school community came together this month to celebrate Eid. Students across the grades worked with our amazing parent team to share dances, fashion show, poems, songs and more. It was a wonderful assembly to bring our community together and learn about this special Muslim celebration.

Thank you to all who gave donations today. All proceeds will support Sakeenah Canada Food Bank. The People’s Market is an empowering grocery store experience for families facing food insecurity in our community. Their mission is to close the food gap by providing clients from diverse racial and religious backgrounds with food and essentials for themselves and their families. It offers a more dignified experience than a regular food bank, with a setup that reflects a grocery store.
