From August 8 to 21, Senior One students Charlie Bigler, Damian Shoan and Zoë Tarabokia, and Senior Two student Ivan Zhuo, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as part of Round Square’s 60th Anniversary Expedition. With a group of 29 other students from schools and countries around the world, they took on an eight-day trek and reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa (5895m). Through altitude sickness, cold, exhaustion, and a demanding overnight summit push, the students supported one another. After the climb, they experienced a safari at Tarangire National Park, where they saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions up close. The students returned having challenged themselves, formed lifelong friendships, and gained a deeper appreciation for Tanzania’s people and landscapes.
