If your child manages the school day but falls apart shortly after getting home, you are not alone. 🏠

This is sometimes referred to as restraint collapse—when a child has spent the day using a lot of energy to focus, cope, regulate, or meet expectations, and once they get home to a safe environment, it all comes out.

It can happen with children with autism or ADHD, and really, to any child who has had a long or demanding day. 💛 It isn’t defiance or “bad behaviour.” Often, home is simply where they feel safe enough to let their guard down.

Knowing what’s behind these moments can make it easier to understand what your child needs and find strategies that work for your family.

That’s where our Parent & Family Support Services can help. We offer consultations and in-session support for families looking for practical ways to better support their child at home.
