Can you spot the pattern?
2, 5, 10, 17, 26, ?
Before checking the answer, ask:
• What changes between each pair of numbers?
• Do the differences follow a pattern?
• What should the next difference be?
The answer is 37 because the differences increase through consecutive odd numbers: +3, +5, +7, +9, and +11.
The goal is not only finding the answer. It is noticing the structure and explaining the reasoning.
