A little glimpse into important work in our Toddler community. Last week our students were introduced to washing a pumpkin.
Pumpkin washing is a practical life activity that encourages toddlers to care for their environment while developing independence and concentration. Children use a brush and water to gently wash the pumpkin, strengthening hand-eye coordination, and sensory awareness while enjoying a meaningful real-life experience. 🧡🌱

Our Toddler students have been exploring materials that engage their senses and support visual discrimination, tactile exploration, concentration, and coordination. These hands-on experiences help children refine their senses, develop purposeful movement, and make meaningful discoveries through exploration. 🍁🍂🌱

We have been continuing with our love for apples. 🍎
Last week our Casa students put on their lab coats, and began investigating with a couple of fascinating apple experiments .

You can tell by the smiles that these scientists really enjoyed putting their discoveries skills to the test!

This week we celebrated World Teacher’s day with treating ourselves to COBS Bread Lakeshore with some yummy pumpkin scones, and we also love any excuse for Ms. F to pose us and take photos of us with flowers! 🌷 our Dearcroft Rebecca team is all heart!! 💗 wishing our teachers a lovely week of fun and laughter together!

🌱 Watch concentration and curiosity bloom! 🌼 This week our Toddler room has started to transform! The children are settling in and familiarizing themselves with the different areas of the classroom. 🦋

🍎♥️As we are in peak apple season, the Casa students took the opportunity to explore the life cycle and parts of an apple, as well as the vast selection of apple varieties produced across Canada.
Our toddler students were also very excited to use cut apple in paint to create apple prints.
From the classic Canadian McIntosh to the sweet Honeycrisp, students engaged in hands-on learning that provided a multisensory way to explore various concepts: practical life skills-such as apple washing, slicing, and coring; sensory and math concepts, including sorting by colour or size and weight comparisons; and biology, where students learned the journey from seed to fruit.
Unsurprisingly, taste testing the different varieties was everyone's favourite part!

🧡Today, we paused to remember, listen, and learn. Our Casa students spent time learning about why we wear orange on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We reflected on our visit from Doug Pawis, an Elder from Shawanaga First Nation, and discussed what orange represents “Every Child Matters” and that wearing orange today reminds us to listen, to learn, to remember, and to treat every person with kindness and respect. 🧡 We ended our morning assembly by participating in a ceremony outside surrounded by nature, and listened to the song called “Remember Me” by Fawn Wood 🧡
