International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is Aug. 9, 2026. RNAO honours Indigenous midwives as knowledge holders, caregivers and leaders who have supported the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Peoples for generations.
We recognize their vital role in safeguarding life, strengthening cultural identity and advancing culturally safe, community-centred care. We also reaffirm our commitment to advancing Indigenous health equity and respecting Indigenous knowledge systems.
