❗️Due to popular demand, we have extended the registration deadline for the Human Rights & Indigenous Advocacy Careers Panel until Saturday, March 2nd! We also have an exciting update to the panelists. See the bios for our new lineup below.

👩‍⚖️ Caitlyn Kasper is an Anishinaabek from the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation and serves as counsel for Aboriginal Legal Services in Toronto, Ontario. Her legal expertise is in appellate court law reform and test case litigation in criminal, child welfare, and civil rights.

👩‍⚖️ Asha James is a partner at Falconers LLP with a practice centred around public interest litigation, with a strong focus on human rights, constitutional law, and access to justice. Asha also has a growing employment law practice providing advice on human resource matters for Indigenous police services and family service agencies.

👩‍⚖️ Kisha Chatterjee has served as council for the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General for over a decade. In the course of her work, Kisha has engaged in many cases involving Indigenous and constitutional law issues.

👋 Meet some of the panelists of OCLS’ first-ever Human Rights & Indigenous Advocacy Careers Panel!

👩‍⚖️ Karen Drake is a member of the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Counsel at JFK Law’s Toronto office, and an Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. She previously served as Osgoode’s Associate Dean (Students). Her focus is on helping Indigenous nations exercise their inherent rights through the implementation of their Indigenous laws, and on using Aboriginal and Treaty rights to advance Indigenous self-determination.

👨‍⚖️ Julian Falconer is a Founding Partner at Falconers LLP, a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, and an author writing extensively on issues of race and civil liberties. More recently, his work has expanded to focus on Indigenous-side representation on matters including child welfare, education, equitable service provision, and community governance—always focusing on the unique remedies required for reconciliation.
