Dear Parents, a reminder our Centre is closed next week (Augist 3-7).

As the owner of a childcare centre in Vancouver for the past 15 years, I have seen this industry face many challenges, and many of them are still present today. Finding real estate that is large enough to accommodate both indoor learning spaces and outdoor playgrounds remains difficult.

Canada also continues to face a shortage of qualified Early Childhood Educators, specially infant toddler educators. At the same time, we have seen significant changes in the way childcare centres operate, from curriculum and educational practices to the way children are cared for.

Today, many childcare centres operate in a more corporate way, where the genuine connection between children and educators is sometimes lost. Some centres focus primarily on supervising children and creating academic curriculum that appeal to parents, occasionally forgetting that early childhood is, above all, a unique stage of a child's life.

Children need to feel loved at their childcare centre. They need to feel valued by their educators and experience their school as an extension of their home, especially considering that most children spend more than eight hours there each day.

A warm, joyful environment is essential. One where educators genuinely connect with their students, greet them with happiness each morning, and do much more than simply supervise or plan activities. They are caring, affectionate, patient listeners who encourage children to express themselves and, most importantly, take the time to play with them.

Children know when they are loved and well cared for. They feel safe knowing that while their parents are at work, they are in good hands, having fun, learning, and feeling genuinely welcomed by the people who care for them every day.

This is what we value most at Bella Balloon Childcare Centre: creating a healthy, nurturing environment where children feel safe, happy, and loved, while giving parents the confidence and peace of mind to go to work knowing their children are receiving the care they deserve.
