When you take an online course at CapU, you are not alone should a question arise about your course and/or technology. Your teacher and fellow students are a first contact. Should you need further assistance, the EAP Department Learning Support Specialist is available. Help could include a step-by-step process to order your course books at the CapU bookstore, connecting to and navigating your course ebook teacher site, an orientation to the online tools you will be using, practice using a specific program, online exercises to help you with a language learning challenge, resources that are matched to your level, skill area and teaching points in your course, Moodle student support sites covering a broad range of online language learning activities, noon-hour webinars to address computer and language skill development, and general questions pertaining to online learning and technology. Deciding whether to take an online EAP course? Concerned about how you will learn? Don’t worry. Your teachers are here to help you with a variety of approaches to learning which can include regular interactions with live meetings, using simplified language to understand better, sharing and discussing student documents with teacher feedback, using our video conferencing software, accessing learning materials on your course site, phoning, emailing and chatting with your instructor, and video narrating PowerPoint slides for learning times outside of regular scheduled course hours.
