I teach classes and workshops to reconnect ourselves to our body, minds and spirits through movement

08/16/2026

When I'm not teaching, you might find me reading. I read 10 to 15 books most weeks. I frequent the free libraries in my neighbourhood. K pries books from my hands when we head to bed. I fall asleep reading most nights.

I read on my way to studios. I read in the gaps between classes. This week, I aim to drop the amount of books I read and increase the time I spend writing.

Happy International Cat Day!

Lady R brings so much joy. Love, cuddles, and laughter to our lives. We are so lucky to have her in our lives. We love her so much!

It's been 3 years since we moved from Vancouver to North Van! After a lifetime of living in Vancity, it took me time to adjust to (And for North Van to adjust to me).

We moved from a 2 bedroom condo built in 1991 to a new building built in 2019. The adjustment from 1000sq feet to 640 Sq feet is still a work in progress.

To get to know my neighbours, I joined the admin team for my local group. In addition to coordinating on Facebook, we hold clothing swaps, freestivals, and more to meet our neighbours.

For my building, I joined strata committee. I like to know what's going on and am hopeful of creating more community.

I'm lucky I get to get to teach classes in North Van at Modo Yoga North Vancouver Obsidian Athletic Club and yyoga.lonsdale

I love walking to and from work.

At the heart of it all is home. I am grateful to K and Lady R who I love so much. As we celebrate our 3 years in on the Northshore, we look forward to using our annual Grouse Mountain passes we bought to celebrate!

What is the best workout? According to my friend Alison Raeya | Pilates Teacher Trainer - the one you do consistently.I agree with her! It is important to find ways to incorporate movement, breathwork, and strength training into our lives. Movement is medicine.

I also encourage you to explore workouts you may not enjoy as much as your regular ones. Some workouts challenge us in different ways.

Perhaps going to a place we don't know. Or listening to your health care practitioner when they recommend different exercises.

Saturday mornings have a special place in my heart. From my early commute via transit, to the smiles and greetings from my students, and watching them explore different types of movement make me happy.

Movement is medicine. Between classes, I showed a group of them how to use some of the equipment in the gym. They were excited to see what types of activities they can use it for.

Today, one of my students gave me a piece of paper with the address of the senior living facility and Go to phone number so I can plan my morning commute times.

It's important to spend time with people we love. There are some friends and family that each time we see them, it feels like no time has passed. We fall back into our patterns of love and laughter.

There are times when we take that love for granted and know that they are there for us. It's vital to make them a priority.

Recently, I watched someone close to me cry. They kept waiting for the "right" time to call someone. Time when there was time to make time spent together quality. The reason that someone was crying was they waited too long and the person they waited to have the right time for had passed.

If you think of someone you love, please pick up the phone and reach out. It's important to let yhe people we know how grateful we are to have them in our lives.

I'm glad I got to spend time today with Auntie R. I love her so much. I'm lucky she's my friend and my aunt.

Who do you need to reach out to today? Text or call them!

For the past 22 years, I've taught at many studios and gyms. In addition to studios, I've offered workshops, lunch & Learns. Teacher trainings, corporate class series, and personal training. I'm grateful that I get to help people find their breath, increase their strength, mobility, and balance.

To get the most out of your classes or personal training sessions, decide what you want to get out of your experience. Each person's goals are unique to their life.

Some goals I've heard recently:

To Commit to working out 3 days each week.

To lose 5 pounds.

To have social time by working out with my best friend.

To be able to walk without my walker.

To be able to do a handstand.

To be able to lift my kids.

To be able to do pull-ups.

Decide what the benefits of achieving your goal would be. And write down goal posts to your goal. Who do you need to recruit to make your goal happen?

I am here to help you set goals, create goal posts, and help celebrate wins!

I live in yoga clothes. I teach a lot of classes, so I tend to dress the part. I don't wear make up most days as I sweat it off teaching in hot rooms.

Once in a while, I flip through my closet, decide to dress up, and go about my day. This picture is evidence of this.

I love clothing and I tend to thrift it. The act of thrifting appeals to me. Reuse, repurpose, and revive speak my language. It appears to the gatherer in me that loves to hunt through garage sales and thrift stores for pieces new to me.

In the next few weeks, I will be sharing tips on thrifting and making the most of what we already own.

When I'm not dressed up, I love to empower people to be their best selves. In the studio and in their regular life.

One of the biggest compliments for wellness teachers is to show up for classes. This week, one of my students made me smile as she told me that she is bringing a few friends to my class on Friday. I am honoured to get to teach her and her friends.

This world is a word of mouth business. People tell friends about classes they love. Instructors recommend other instructors to studios and clients. I've raved about classes and instructors to studio owners.

In the past few months, I've been the recipient of recommendations. Thanks to my friend Sarah Jane Groberman I've been covering some of her classes and clients. Thank you to RPK
For trusting me with your mom's training sessions.

Thanks to my yoga cheerleader for recommending my yoga classes to a studio I was teaching other classes at AND bringing people to my classes. Thank you to Derick for recommending me to Havyn Hot Studios (where I teach my first classes on Thursday).

Thank you so much!
