Throughout the year, students engage in learning experiences that honour Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. These opportunities help students deepen their understanding of the past while building meaningful connections to the present.

June 21 is also “summer solstice” the longest day of the year which is significant to many indigenous cultures.

National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD) takes place on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice. It is a day to learn more about Indigenous peoples, places and experiences. New Feature Exhibit at MONOVA.

MONOVA is proud to announce our latest feature exhibit, opening this Saturday, June 6: Gifts to be Shared, Protected and Carried Forward.

Presented in collaboration with the Sḵwx̱wu̓7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), this new exhibit proudly showcases Sḵwx̱wú7mesh belongings and artistic expressions, creating a living connection between past, present, & future. Visitors are invited to connect with pieces and gain a richer understanding of traditions, teachings, and practices, alongside the land the Sḵwx̱wu̓7mesh people have stewarded since time immemorial.
