Our mentor Alyssa Zarate has been accepted into the Master’s program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology!! We’re incredibly proud of her and wish her the very best on this exciting new journey.

While Alyssa steps back from direct mentoring and teaching for a little while, she will continue to oversee operations and the business side of The VFX Mentor.

As many of you know, I’ve recently been accepted into a Master’s program!! With that, I’ll be stepping back from mentoring and teaching at and .animation for a while as I return to school.

I’m super excited (and a little nervous) to be back in student mode! I’ll still be around on the operations and business side of The VFX Mentor, but less on the teaching front for now.

I’m so grateful for all the support over the past 5 years. It’s been an honor to mentor and work alongside so many talented artists and technical directors of the next generation. Wishing you all continued success, and I can’t wait to see the amazing things you’ll create!

⭐ We’ve officially completed The VFX Mentor’s Pilot Program in Colombia! ⭐

In collaboration with , we had the honor of guiding five incredibly talented emerging artists through our Introduction to Matte Painting & Environment program.

The VFX Mentor was founded on the belief that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity doesn’t. And our mission is to empower diverse talents by providing the tools, mentorship, and support systems to those who may not otherwise have access to them.

MEET
Oscar Chávez is a Character Designer and Figure Drawing Instructor with a Fine Arts degree from Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES). He has worked with studios worldwide, creating character designs, illustrations, and concept art for animation, advertising, and games. Oscar also teaches Character Design and Traditional Animation at Universidad Casa Grande.
