Capilano University’s Department of Theatre offers courses designed for non-majors, open to all CapU students. We still have a few openings in THTR 131 – Improvisation Foundations to Performance for Fall 2026.
THTR 131 introduces students to improvisation through engaging games and collaborative exercises that develop creativity, confidence, communication, and adaptability. Whether you're preparing for presentations, interviews, leadership roles, or simply want to become more comfortable thinking on your feet, improv provides practical skills that extend far beyond the stage.
No audition or previous acting experience is required. The course also fulfills the Cap Core Creative & Cultural Expression requirement.
Just bring your curiosity, your willingness to play, and your ability to say "yes, and."

We're thrilled to celebrate our incredible alumni Ali Watson, who is part of the Arts Club Theatre Company's production of Come From Away... only one of the most beloved Canadian musicals of all time!

Ali is taking on the extraordinary role of Dance Captain and Standby for Hannah & Others, Janice & Others, and Beverley/Annette & Others. In a show where every performer carries immense responsibility, Ali is truly helping to hold down the fort—maintaining the production, supporting multiple principal tracks, and ensuring the show can continue seamlessly night after night.

It takes remarkable talent, versatility, leadership, and professionalism to cover so many roles while also serving as Dance Captain, and we're incredibly proud to see Ali thriving in such a vital position on a major professional stage.

Congratulations, Ali! Your hard work, artistry, and dedication make us so proud! Way to go!

Things may be going wrong on stage, but everything is going right for our incredible (and hysterically funny) Capilano University Theatre Alumni and Faculty who are part of the Arts Club Theatre Company's production of The Play That Goes Wrong.
