Dishcloths hand-knit with love with 100% of the proceeds going towards the funding of college educat

12/10/2020

Hello friends and welcome to my new project, Knitting for Knowledge. The original idea for this project was to have a community of knitters, including residents at senior homes, hand-knit dishcloths, then sell them at markets and craft fairs. Unfortunately, Covid had other plans so I am now selling them online. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the dishcloths will go towards funding college educations for children living at Child Haven International (CHI) in Hyderabad, India.

As you may or may not know, I have volunteered at CHI in Hyderabad for the past two years and if it wasn’t for Covid, I would be there right now. Child Haven is a Canadian organization and many of you know that this organization is very near and dear to my heart. I never had any kids of my own and never really considered myself a ‘kid’ person, but that all changed after spending time at CHI.

Bonnie, affectionately known as Bonniema, Fred (Fredpa) and their son Robin (Robin Sir) tirelessly fundraise to provide a better life for children in their homes in India, Nepal, Tibet, and Bangladesh. In total, they support 1300 children and several women who either cannot support themselves or have come from abusive relationships. Up until Covid hit, Bonniema, who is in her late 80’s, and Robin traveled to each of their 13 homes four times a year. Bonniema is a Rockstar at the homes and the children are very aware of what she is providing for them. During my time in India, I was reminded, almost on a daily basis, how lucky those children are and shudder when I think of where they would be without the support of Child Haven.

If you have a look at the photos of the dishcloths, you will see there are many colours (and more!) available. They sell for 3 for $12, 2 for $9, and 1 for $5. If you are interested in purchasing any dishcloths, please send me a message regarding colours, payment, and delivery. Thank you for your support!
