The End of Life Doula Association of Canada recommends taking training by a reputable educational institution.

The EOLDAC Board of Directors has reviewed over 20+ End of Life Doula programs, looking for the coverage of core competencies for doula work. The following factors are included in the consideration process: the role of a doula, scope of work, communication, family management, identifying priorities, vigilling, advance care planning, and more.

Douglas College is recognized by the End of Life Doula Association of Canada.

The End of Life Doula Association of Canada is committed to ensuring all its members meet a minimum amount of mastery of prerequisite knowledge and skills that are fundamental to the Scope of Practice.

This is done through background and education checks, practical experience requirements, continuing education requirements, as well as criminal record checks every 5 years.

The End of Life Doula Association of Canada follows directions from local health authorities, hospice and palliative care associations and the Ministry of Health.

There are several programs that advertise themselves as offering End of Life Doula certification, however, that certification is not recognized in Canada.

Some insurance and benefit plans cover doula services. Please check with your provider for coverage details.

People accompanied by a friend estimated a hill to be less steep when compared to people who were alone. Similarly, people who thought of a supportive friend during a task saw a hill as less steep (Schnall et al., 2008).

Research consistently shows that the presence and support of friends significantly improve performance and well-being during difficult tasks by reducing perceived difficulty, lowering stress responses, and increasing motivation and productivity.

This is one of the reasons I offer my services with the option for private group bookings. The rate for all services is $125 per 50-minute session. Booking with a group means you split that amount, resulting in a lower personal cost.
