Explore and Discover Early Learning Centre North Sydney

The children enjoyed some water play outdoors. They had fun filling cups with water and pouring it over themselves, exploring cause and effect and enjoying the sensory experience of the water. We also set up a sensory water-play activity using cut-up pool noodle pieces as floats and added Little People figures for the children to play with. The children enjoyed placing their Little People on the floating pool noodle floats and watching them float around in the water. This activity encouraged sensory exploration, fine motor skills, imaginative play, coordination, and an understanding of floating and sinking. 💦🧸

The children painted paper plates to create their own turtles. They explored different painting techniques, such as making strokes with a paintbrush, using their fingers, and painting with their hands. The children discussed where turtles live and talked about other creatures that live in the ocean. Once their plates were dry, we added details to transform their painted plates into turtles. This activity encouraged fine motor development, creativity, colour recognition, sensory exploration, and learning about turtles and ocean life. 🐢🌊

Carnival Week 🎡🎠🎟️

⛈️🌩️ Thunder, Lightning, and Learning! 🌩️⛈️

Today’s storm gave us the perfect opportunity to talk about thunder and lightning! We learned that lightning comes first, and thunder follows because light travels faster than sound. We counted the seconds between the flash and the rumble, shared what keeps us safe during storms, and even enjoyed listening to nature’s amazing soundtrack from indoors.

Rainy days can be full of fun, curiosity, and learning! 💙☔

The children explored two exciting sensory invitations. One tuff tray was filled with bubbles and a variety of bubble wands in different sizes and shapes. The children experimented with dipping, waving, and blowing the wands, observing how different wands created different bubbles. They enjoyed watching the bubbles float, popping them, and exploring cause and effect through play.
A second tuff tray was filled with blue bubble foam to resemble the ocean. Shells and ocean animals were added to encourage imaginative play and exploration. The children scooped, stirred, searched for hidden treasures, and created their own ocean adventures while exploring the soft, foamy texture.

It feels like just yesterday they walked through our doors as little ones, and now they’re ready to take on Pre-Primary! 💙

Watching these children grow has been one of our greatest joys. From first friendships and big milestones to endless smiles and unforgettable memories, each moment has been so special.

We’re incredibly proud of how far they’ve come and can’t wait to see all the wonderful things they’ll accomplish. Congratulations to our Graduates—we’ll miss you, and you’ll always have a special place in our hearts! 🎓🌈
