Welcome to Nbisiing Secondary School KEB!

We would like to warmly welcome the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body and all Participating First Nations, Chiefs, Council members and delegates, and communities to Nbisiing Secondary School, located in Nipissing First Nation.

We are proud to host this year’s Annual General Meeting and welcome everyone into our newly updated gymnasium. Special shout out to Nipissing First Nations Elder George Couchie, NFN Deputy Chief Brian Couchie, NFN Director of Dan Stevens, Principal Lacy Farrell-Steven’s, NFN Youth Council Chief Cailen Hanzlik for your leadership in education.

LAST WEEK TO APPLY - Mii-gi-we-osh-ki-nii-giig (“Giving Back to Our Youth”) Bursary Program

Last month, the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) announced the launch of the Mii-gi-we-osh-ki-nii-giig (“Giving Back to Our Youth”) Bursary Program.

We are re-sharing information about the bursary program, as applications are due by August 1, 2026. Made possible through proceeds raised from APS Golf Tournaments, this new initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the future leaders, tradespeople, professionals, and knowledge holders within the communities we serve.

Through the program, APS will award three (3) annual bursaries of $1,000 each to eligible members of APS-served First Nations who are pursuing post-secondary education, skilled trades, apprenticeships, Indigenous educational programs, or other recognized training opportunities.

Help us spread the word. If you know a student, apprentice, or learner who may benefit from this opportunity, please consider sharing it within your networks and communities. Together, we can help invest in the next generation and support the continued growth and success of our First Nations communities.

Stretching over 50 feet, this piece celebrates the incredible diversity and beauty of the local plant life found throughout Nbisiing. Each plant was chosen to honour the land, the medicines, the pollinators, and the relationships that have sustained our communities since time immemorial. Chi-miigwech to our amazingly talented art teacher, Kayla Liberty, for continuing to share her incredible talent and brighten our hallways.

A big congratulations to Jacie, who competed this weekend at the Aamjiwnaang Pow Wow! We are so proud to have Jacie represent both our school and community as a member of the Nbisiing Redhawks Dance Team.

Our dancers train throughout the winter, committing to rigorous workouts, learning the importance of proper nutrition and rest, and studying the songs and beats that accompany each dance style. Their dedication reflects the respect and responsibility they carry as dancers to bring healing to the people. Miigwech to coach Tory for volunteering your time and dedication to our Redhawks dance team.

At Nbisiing, Nishnaabe culture thrives, and it is inspiring to see our students carry our traditions with pride wherever they go.
