A couple weeks ago , the students from Mrs. Ross’ Anishinaabemowin classes at Nobel Intermediate had the opportunity to learn from Zakk Pamajewon, Cultural Coordinator for Wasauksing First Nation and a member of the Sturgeon Clan 🐟
Zakk joined us to share Fire Teachings and Fire Keeping Protocols, and we are incredibly grateful for the knowledge he shared. Opportunities like this remind us how important it is for community members to be present in our schools. Our youth benefit from seeing people living in a good way and generously sharing their teachings and experiences.
Miigwech to Zakk for spending the day with us, to the McDougall Fire Department for their support, and to all of our students who listened with open hearts 🔥

The students from Nobel Intermediate’s Anishinaabemowin Class, along with Mrs. Ross, recently celebrated Ode’min Giizis (Strawberry Moon) by making Ode’min Minikwe (strawberry drink), listening to Strawberry Teachings, and spending time together.
A heartfelt miigwech goes to Parry Sound No Frills for their generous donation of strawberries, and to Moose Deer Point First Nation and the Niigaan Gdizhaami Fund for supporting opportunities like this for students. Their generosity helps create meaningful experiences that connect young people to culture, language, and community.
Community is at the heart of everything we do, and we are grateful to be surrounded by people and organizations who believe in supporting our youth. We love our community and are thankful for the many ways it continues to lift the next generation 🍓🪶

Today, Miss Albany visited Miss Marshall’s class at Woodland Public School to share a special book titled What’s in a Bead. After listening to the story, the students created their own bracelets, each representing a meaningful story or memory that was important to them.
We’re always grateful when Great Lakes Cultural Camps comes to visit! Here’s another reel to check out our learning from day 2
