Great advice!
22 learnings from my 4th decade of life:
1. work hard, be consistent, take risks
2. say yes to things. Expand your horizons. As someone who loves comfort and routine, I struggle with this but am learning to cede control & just go with the flow
3. listen to people, don’t talk over them. Actually hear what others have to say
4. be curious. ABG (always be Googlin’)
5. speak up. Challenge authority. Use your voice (literally and figuratively. See a voice coach if you need to)
6. family, including your chosen family, your friends, is the most important thing there is
7. take care of your body, it’s the only one you get
8. don’t be so focused on work so as to let your passions outside of work wither (for me that’s singing & playing music)
9. always be growing
10. learn about money & investing and talk about it openly
11. always always always stay true to your values and whenever in doubt return to your ‘why’ (for me it’s my mom)
12. invest in self-care and this includes therapy
13. regularly let people know you love & appreciate them. The person you love most in the world could be gone tomorrow
14. be responsible with people's hearts. I've fu**ed this up in the past. Trying to be better
15. everyone has haters. Don’t try to be liked by everyone. Find the ones that love & believe in you and focus on them
16. trust the timing of the universe & be patient. Don’t force anything. Things happen when they’re meant to happen
17. don’t be an Non-Player Character. Identify rote behaviors, reactions, phrases or words you use too often, & stop (they’re probably annoying to others)
18. challenge your “preferences”. You had a bad experience with something 20 years ago? Try again
19. never be afraid to admit you were wrong or where your views have changed/evolved
20. people have different views than you. Get over it. Don’t try to change their minds. It’s a waste of your time and energy (you can still love them regardless)
21. don't let your biology be harmed by someone elses ideology. You know what I’m getting at 🥩🍳🥬
22. have fun. Life is short & you only live once (cliché af but true)
❤️ Max
