The Canadore College Foundation is proud to recognize the District Municipality of Muskoka for its commitment to the next generation of Early Childhood Educators.

Through a generous $17,000 investment, students from the Muskoka region enrolling in Canadore College’s Early Childhood Education Program are eligible to receive a bursary to help support their education.

This investment comes at a pivotal time. Earlier this week, the Government of Canada announced a new initiative aimed at strengthening the early childhood educator workforce, including investments to support recruitment, retention, and professional development across the sector. Canada’s growing childcare system depends on skilled ECE professionals, and supporting students entering the field has never been more important.

By creating these bursaries, the District Municipality of Muskoka is helping remove financial barriers for future educators while strengthening communities throughout the region.

Congratulations, Dr. Sandra Efu!

Today we celebrated Dr. Efu's installation as Canadore College's 8th President and CEO. She and her family marked the occasion with a meaningful gift of their own: the new Efu Family Bursary, supporting Black and Indigenous students at Canadore as they pursue their credentials.

This bursary is a family initiative, and it speaks to the values the Efu family brings to our community. For students, it can mean one less job and more time to focus on their education.

The Canadore College Foundation is proud to recognize an extraordinary act of community investment in Canadore students.

Joe Guido and the Guido family, owners of Premier Mining Products and Pilot Diamond Mining Tools, have announced a $55,000 donation to fund 10 student bursaries in Canadore's Mechanical Technician – CNC and Precision Machining program, for the upcoming academic year.

The Guido Family has a long-standing relationship with Canadore College, having hired many of our graduates over the years. Their continued support reflects the high value they place on the quality of Canadore’s training and the critical role skilled machinists play in meeting regional workforce demands.

We are grateful to the Guido family for their generosity and their continued confidence in Canadore students.

The Canadore College Foundation’s annual President’s Club Dinner, held April 12, raised $169,000 in support of student bursaries, a result made possible by our generous donors, corporate and table sponsors, and Canadore College Alumni, whose matching contribution amplified the night’s impact. We are grateful to everyone for their investment in Canadore College students.

George Burton, Thank you and Congratulations!

George Burton's journey began in the tight-knit community of Chalk River, Ontario, where small-town values, teamwork, and a love of sport shaped his early years. His career bridged both the private and public sectors and, in the summer of 2010, more than 30 years after first arriving on campus as a student, Burton returned to Canadore College as President and CEO.

Over the next 15 years, he would guide the College through a period of remarkable growth and innovation. As Burton prepares to retire January 26, his legacy is firmly rooted in opportunity, innovation, and community pride.

With his wife, Virginia, he has shown unwavering support for students, staff, and alumni, strengthening the Canadore Foundation and expanding access to education for generations. The Canadore Foundation celebrates George Burton's extraordinary journey - from Panther student-athlete, to President - and the lasting impact he and Virginia leave behind.

The Board of Governors is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Sandra Efu as the next President and CEO of Canadore College, effective January 27, 2026. Dr. Efu brings a strong and well-aligned vision to Canadore, grounded in an impressive record of post-secondary leadership and an unwavering commitment to fostering community prosperity, advancing student success, enhancing Indigenous partnerships, and promoting applied learning and research.

We look forward to her leadership as Canadore enters its next chapter of growth and innovation.
