It was such a privilege for Royal Oak students to be part of the opening ribbon-cutting at The Wilderness in Niagara-on-the Lake yesterday. This pristine piece of land with immense natural and historical value has been preserved by the Niagara Community Foundation, and many members of the Niagara Lake Community came to celebrate! Both Head of School, Julia Murray, and Grade 8 student, Amelia Walton, shared the importance of natural spaces for land base learning, and connecting subject matter to the world around us.
It may have been our first visit to The Wilderness but it won’t be our last!

Royal Oak takes it outside again… but this week, back to beautiful Muskoka for a week of outdoor education, bonding and breathing in nature.

Camp is a gift to share with children and we’re so grateful to watch Royal Oak students rise to the occasion of practicing independence, conquering fears and learning new skills.

Waffles and croissants for breakfast doesn’t hurt!!!

A community school is about so much more than academics. 🤍

It’s a place where children feel known.
Where families feel connected.
Where learning extends beyond the classroom walls.

At Royal Oak, our students grow through curiosity, collaboration, kindness, and real-world experiences. From inquiry-based learning and outdoor education to community partnerships and meaningful relationships, every part of school life is rooted in connection.

Because when children feel supported, valued, and inspired — they thrive.

This is what it means to be a community school. 🌿
