Thanks for the great response by our generous donors! The operation has been booked for Sarai and we can finance the family needs during this time. The parents can be at her bedside without the stress of worrying how to feed rheir other two children!
Today I was able to celebrate my birthday by delivering desperately needed school desks to various mountain communities. Rafael, the welding unstructor at the Wells of Hope Ben Center, has taught the students how to fabricate sturdy school desks using steel tubing and recycled plastic bottles as the desk seat and writing table.

I had just finished the previous Facebook post, lamenting over the challenges that we were facing drilling this well in Corralitos. I was quickly humbled when I went to the gate of Campo Esperanza to see who was patiently waiting for us since early this morning. This young couple brought their 4 month old daughter, Sarai, who is in desperate need of a cleft palat operation that they cannot afford. They came to us seeking help. My challenges immediately vapourized when I realized the obstacles that this innocent four month old girl and young parents are having to deal with. We definately have to help! Will you be a part of this?

Dealing with a multitude of mechanical breakdowns while drilling in water parched Los Corralitos this week, we were able to bring some feel of accomplishment to the week, albeit temporary, by sharing our water on board with a desperately dry community. In the frustration of dealing with the challenges of the week, moments like these are always a rude wake up call, reminding me of how blessed we are with all the water available to us in Southern Ontario. The mothers of the community were so grateful for the brief relief we gave them in their daily struggle for water. Hopefully next week we will overcome all the drilling challenges that we are facing and successfully complete our mission of providing these struggling families with a permanent source of clean, potable water.

The community of Pino Gordo asked Wells of Hope for help in resolving their need for classroom space. Currently, the kitchen and storage closet have been repurposed to educate the overflow of children. There was no convenient space available for further classroom construction. Wells of Hope carved out the slope at the edge of the hillside school property in order to utilize the last available space and build a two storey set of classrooms. Thank you to all of our supporters who make the gift of education possible!

Special needs children and families receive some desperately needed aid from Wells of Hope to help deal with various physical and mental challenges that can make life in poverty sistuations a seemingly unbearable burden to carry. Thanks to all our supporters who help us to bring some relief to these desperate situations.

We began drilling at a new site in the village of Corralito, a 90 minute drive from Campo Esperanza.. This is a very dry, water desperate community in the region of San Pedro Pinula. When the community realized that the well drilling support truck carried water for the well drilling process it didn't take long before people were asking if they could have some of the water from the truck. Already knowing their desperate need for water, an agreement was struck that by the days end, any water that was remaining in the support truck was for the community to take home. By mid day, women were lining up with their empty jugs to take the remaining water home.
