Performance was uppermost in their hearts. Playing, and more playing, or singing....but all geared towards the performance. Lucky for us to have The Celaya Quartet to inspire, share good times, play football and share endless music.

Last performance of the Academy students with the Celaya Quartet! Sunday July 29, 3pm United Mennonite Church, Highway 55, NOTL. Free! And guaranteed to be moving, passionate, exciting, and a glorious way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon. Big thank you to all those instructors and artists who made the learning so important. From Master Classes with the astonishing Andre Laplante, Juliette Kang, Alex Dobson, Andrea Grant, Victoria Kogan, Sylvain Brillon and Atis Bankas; to workshops in acting, dance, singing and voice with Patty Jamieson Jenny Wright , Barbara Worthy and Lisa Cosens Brillon; together with the musical passion of Anna Antropova. Plus all the amazing hosts, drivers, volunteers - and Loris Isabettini. They say it takes a village to raise a child, well it takes an entire town to raise an academy.

Day 8 and Day 9 is suddenly here and almost gone. The music gets better. The students have laughed, cried, danced, kicked balls, and ate wonderful Pam Mundy-cooked food together every day. Hard to believe this super charged creative energy will be over as of tomorrow night. But they want to come back ! And not just for the ice cream.... This is music and performance, crazy wild and fun. Master classes, lessons, concerts, practices and rehearsals, in places as diverse as the Shaw Festival lobby, St. Mark's Church, and a school hallway. And how about those corsets and top hats thanks to Guy Bannerman and Sharry Flett's Manners of the Mandate. ... Plus there's always more ice cream and gelato.....

A week of new friendships, learning every day, master classes, concerts, late nights. Days of practicing and rehearsing and adventures, and always challenging. From the Shaw Festival to Whirlpool Jet Boats, to hanging out with Louie the dog, and our great friends from Mexico, the Celaya Quartet!! Next concert for the Academy with the Celaya Quartet, is Sunday July 29, 3pm United Mennonite Church, NOTL, 3pm.
