Our Student Of The Month for June, 2026 is, Pamela!!!!
Pamela is another of Alex's many piano students, and one of many adult students that he teaches. If Pamela looks familiar, it’s because she was one of our students that performed in the recital last year and as she introduced her piece that she was performing, she suggested that Alex dance to it, which resulted in everyone chanting for him to do so (thanks again, Pamela…lol). Pamela was our student that suggested the idea of the Pet Corner, and she has been working on an arrangement of Dave Brubeck’s famous jazz piece, ‘Take Five’. Pamela will be performing it in the recital in October alongside a certain clarinet player/teacher you may know 😉
Pamela received her framed Student Of The Month certificate, and is featured in this months newsletter as well as on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and on the school website when the newsletter is posted there.
Congrats, Pamela!!

Our Student Of The Month for May, 2026 is, David!!!
David is one of Alex's many piano students and has been working out of the Faber Piano Adventures Level 1 Book, after completing the Primer Level book. David loves Super Mario, so when Alex first started teaching him, Alex taught him how to play first part of the Super Mario Bros. theme and he was so excited!! Naturally, David chooses the Mario stickers each week when he completes a song. Every week Alex is greeted at the door with a hug from both David and his younger sister, Victoria.
David received his framed Student Of The Month certificate, and is featured in this months newsletter as well as on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and on the school website when the newsletter is posted there.

Happy International Jazz Day!!
Every year the month of April is recognized as ‘Jazz Month’, with April 30th specifically being celebrated as International Jazz Day.
International Jazz Day was first founded in 2011 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in co-operation with legendary jazz pianist and composer, Herbie Hancock, who also serves as an ambassador for the UNESCO and is also the chairman for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. Jazz Day is always celebrated annually on April 30th and also marks the conclusion of Jazz Appreciation month. It’s also a day, that in 2012, was welcomed officially into the United Nations General Assembly and is recognized on their official calendar.
Did you know that Rock derived from early jazz styles such as Blues, and Swing? From Elvis to Springsteen, The Beatles to Billy Joel, it came from early Jazz!
Today, Alex celebrates with a yearly tradition of his by listening to the greatest Jazz album ever recorded and sold, Miles Davis' 'Kind Of Blue'.
