Creating lasting change begins with meaningful conversations and strong community partnerships. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿค

University of Niagara Falls Canada was honoured to participate in the Voices That Matter: Black Youth and Mental Health Symposium, hosted by Future Black Female in partnership with the Niagara Falls Community Health Centre. The symposium united researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, advocates, and community organizations to explore practical, culturally responsive solutions that support the mental health and well-being of Black youth.

Representing UNF, Secil E. Ertorer, Associate Dean of Psychology and Health, presented โ€œThe Hidden Burden: Racism and Mental Health Among Black Youth,โ€ sharing research on the impact of racism on the mental health and well-being of Black youth while highlighting opportunities for community-informed action. Deanna White, Assistant Professor in the Master of Health Care Management program, participated in workshops and roundtable discussions focused on strengthening partnerships, sharing best practices, and advancing culturally responsive mental health supports.

Through participation in events like these, UNF continues to foster community-engaged research, build meaningful partnerships, and create opportunities for students and faculty to contribute to positive social impact across the Niagara region.

Stepping into a new direction takes clarity and confidence. For Andrea, that meant building on her experience and moving into the Master of Arts in Digital Media and Global Communications at UNF. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป

Her journey has taken her across fast-paced, client-facing environments, where she developed strong communication skills and a deep understanding of customer experience. These moments shaped her interest in how branding, digital media, and storytelling influence decision-making.๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ผ

At UNF, Andrea is sharpening that perspective through a program focused on digital strategy and global communication. By actively participating in campus initiatives and engaging with the student community, she has continued to grow both academically and personally.

Andreaโ€™s experience reflects what it means to take initiative, embrace change, and move forward with purpose. ๐Ÿ’™

Sometimes, the biggest dreams begin with a single decision. For Wendy, choosing to study at the University of Niagara Falls Canada was the start of a journey that brought together her passion for communication, creativity, and technology. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“โœจ

While completing the Master of Arts in Digital Media and Global Communications, Wendy challenged herself to create something meaningful through her capstone project. Drawing on her background in communications and event planning, she developed a digital platform designed to help engaged couples organize their weddings with greater ease. The project allowed her to apply what she learned in digital media and user experience while reinforcing how digital innovation can solve real-world challenges. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป

Her experience at UNF extended well beyond academics. From volunteering during Orientation Week to participating in campus activities, Wendy embraced every opportunity to connect with the university community and support fellow students.

Today, she's applying the skills she developed at UNF as a Digital Marketing Specialist, where she continues to bring together creativity, communication, and strategy in her professional work.

We're proud to celebrate Wendy's journey and look forward to seeing where it takes her next. ๐Ÿ‘
