Are you making these common NCLEX study mistakes? 😬🚨
❌ Just reading & highlighting instead of active learning
❌ Focusing only on content without mastering test-taking strategies
❌ Cramming last minute instead of using a structured study plan
The NCLEX isn’t just about what you know—it’s about how you apply it! 🧠✨
💡 Pro Tip: Practice NCLEX-style questions every day, use strategies like Maslow & ABCs, and avoid cramming before exam day.

💊 NCLEX Tip: Commonly Asked Medication - Lisinopril
Did you know? Lisinopril is often tested on the NCLEX because it’s a commonly prescribed ACE inhibitor for managing high blood pressure and heart failure.

📚 Pharmacology Study Tips for Nursing Students & Educators! 🩺💊
Pharmacology can feel overwhelming with all the medications, classifications, and side effects to remember. But don’t worry—I’ve got you! Here are some tried-and-true strategies to make studying easier and more effective for nursing school exams, the NCLEX, or even for teaching your students!
📝 1. Group Medications by Class
Instead of memorizing individual drugs, focus on learning drug classes. Most medications in the same class have similar endings, mechanisms of action, and side effects.
🔹 Example: Beta-blockers (-olol): metoprolol, atenolol → ↓ heart rate & BP
🧠 2. Use Mnemonics & Memory Tricks
Make tricky information stick with mnemonics!
🔹 Example: "PRESSURE" for antihypertensive meds:
Potassium-sparing diuretics
Renin inhibitors
Endothelin receptor antagonists
Sympatholytics
Sodium channel blockers
Understand lifestyle changes
RAA system inhibitors
Educate patients on side effects
📖 3. Focus on Key Drug Facts
For each drug, learn:
✔️ MOA (Mechanism of Action) – How does it work?
✔️ Side Effects – What should you monitor?
✔️ Nursing Considerations – Any contraindications or patient education points?
🎶 4. Try Songs, Flashcards & Visual Aids
🔹 Turn difficult concepts into songs or acronyms
🔹 Use flashcards (Quizlet or handmade) for active recall
🔹 Draw diagrams to visualize mechanisms of action
⏳ 5. Teach It to Someone Else
If you can explain a concept in simple terms to a friend, classmate, or even your pet, you truly understand it!
🎯 6. Practice NCLEX-Style Questions
🔹 Answer at least 5–10 pharmacology questions daily
🔹 Focus on rationales—understanding why an answer is right or wrong helps retain information
💡 Bonus Tip for Educators: Encourage students to use active learning techniques like case studies, group discussions, and real-world examples to make pharmacology less intimidating and more engaging!
