After our visit to Whistling Gardens, our class headed over to Winkelmolen Nursery for a tour with Jeff Winkelmolen, a 2014 graduate of the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture.
We had a great time exploring the nursery and learning about the many different aspects of nursery production. From the greenhouse and field production areas to the equipment and storage facilities, it was amazing to see the scale of the operation and everything that goes into growing highquality plant material.
Jeff shared a lot of great knowledge and gave us a great look into the nursery industry. It was especially interesting to hear from a graduate of our school and see where a career in horticulture can lead.
Thank you to Jeff and everyone at Winkelmolen Nursery for taking the time to show us around and answer our questions. We really appreciated the opportunity and had a fantastic visit!

Yesterday, the second-year students from Niagara Parks School of Horticulture went on a study tour to Whistling Gardens.
We had the opportunity to tour the gardens with Darren Heimbecker. Thank you, Darren, for such an amazing and informative tour. We were all impressed by the incredible amount of work, dedication, and passion that has gone into creating and maintaining such a beautiful garden.
It was inspiring to see what can be accomplished through hard work, vision, and determination, even with only a small team behind such a large-scale garden.
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. We definitely look forward to visiting again in the future!

Creating art that grows Pt 2🌱
Now that the frames are filled,
and the soil is in place, it's time for the magic to happen! Our first and second year students are carefully planting out the mosaiculture structures, using alternathera and sedum, transforming metal frames into living works of art one plant at a time.

Introducing our intern gardener, Elliot from the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture who has journeyed here to fulfill a key role in this next phase of reopening the Naa'Waya'Sum Gardens and Clayoquot Campus!
This guy - at 20 years of age, drove for six days to join us, and has quickly become an indispensable part of taking care of our gardens and rounding out our team here on Campus.
It's always rewarding to experience the west coast and in particular our little 12 acre part of it, vicariously through the eyes of someone who is experiencing it anew!
Many Kleckos and gratitude for his safe arrival and diligent attention to our property. Getting ready for our grand (full) reopening April 1st 2027!!!!

LETS GO SOH!!
We’re incredibly proud to share that our school placed 16th out of 54 schools at NCLC 🎉 As the only Canadian school in the competition, we show up every year determined to make our mark—and we absolutely did.
Huge congratulations to Kasey Kaine, who earned 2nd place in Small Engine Repair, and Madison Yerich, who secured 5th place in Exterior Landscape Design. Their hard work, talent, and dedication truly shined.
We may be a small school, but we are mighty 💪 and we continue to prove that passion and perseverance can take you far.
