“This is our ghost light, an exposed incandescent bulb that remains on stage when the theatre is unoccupied.
One could argue this is only a safety measure. A theatre has no natural light, and when the stage and house lights are off, the ghost light prevents accidents.
The superstitious among us might argue that the ghost light prevents spirits from cursing or sabotaging our theatre.
However, there is another explanation….
Why are theatres closed or “dark” on a Monday? Legend says there is a contract with the spiritual realm to offer them one day alone where they can play on stage.
How else do you explain transported costume pieces or missing props?”
