I drew a Knave (Page) of Cups for the first day of challenge by .
What does this card mean to me as representing my present moment?
The traditional meaning of this card gently reminds me to look inward and acknowledge areas of my life where I am behaving in a childishly emotional and immature level. Page of Cups is an emotional creature and does not have full control of his emotions. He is sometimes naive and sometimes willfully ignorant.
This resonates with me at this time in one area of my life that I have just begun paying attention to. For a couple of years or so, which is. I time at all in the grand scheme of things, I’ve been trying to address some issues with overeating. It has been an eye opener for me, as I discovered that not only am I an emotional eater, I am also very childlike, when it comes to any sort of restriction. My inner child says “you can’t make me! I do what I want! Please just one more bite, it’s so delicious!” And then my inner child recites all the reasons thou shalt not leave food on thy plate which I heard from my parents growing up “you’ll be hungry later, only a little bit left, it’s disrespectful to leave food on the plate, etc...”. .
So I am grateful for this card today because it reminds me that I am not a child anymore. I have control over my emotions and over the dialogues that emerge from my subconscious, like the fish out of the Page’s cup. It reminds me to acknowledge that inner child and have a productive dialogue with her instead of pushing her further down. That’s a solid start I’d say!
