✨ What makes a kindergarten classroom truly meaningful? It’s not just what you see—it’s how every space, invitation, and experience is intentionally designed to help children learn.

From collaborative play and hands-on STEAM challenges to sensory invitations, exploration, literacy, and numeracy, every part of our classroom has a purpose. Our word walls, number walls, learning centres, and play experiences all work together to support Ontario curriculum expectations in ways that are engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate.

We believe the best learning happens when children are curious, actively involved, and having fun. By blending child-led exploration with intentional teaching, we create opportunities for every learner to build confidence, think critically, problem-solve, and grow academically—without sacrificing the joy of childhood. 🌿📚✨

Because play isn’t a break from learning... play is the way children learn best. 💛

This is what being a part of a cooperative nursery school is all about!

The money for the mulch was fundraised, the parents brought tools and muscles and helped the children move the mulch into our playground. It was quite the community event!

An extra big thank you to the mom, Liz, in the video. She came back and finished an entire bag for us before we opened Friday!

Back in March, we had some Co-op alumni attempt to break a kids world record: the longest chain. They worked very hard for a couple days to accomplish this goal. And they did it!!! They are officially the kids world record holders! We couldn't be more proud of them! At the end, the children had the opportunity to say why they love the Co-op, even after all these years ♥️

We are once again participating in the Hatch-a-chick program and it's going so well!

The children are learning about the development of chickens, especially the development of an egg. They ask everyday what is happening within the egg and we have a couple different calendars to show the eggs at each stage of development. We also happened to have a "chicken coop" donated the day the eggs were delivered, co-op magic right there!

On day 8, we candled the eggs and got to experience something pretty incredible: a chick moving within the egg! We can't wait to meet our chicks! 🥚🐣

The best learning begins with curiosity. 🌿✨

Our Junior Kindergarten program is thoughtfully designed to nurture each child’s natural love of learning through child-initiated, play-based experiences while intentionally meeting Ontario curriculum expectations.

With our small class sizes, every child is truly known. We create individualized learning opportunities that build on each child’s unique interests, strengths, and developmental needs, helping them grow with confidence and joy.

Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. From outdoor exploration and nature-based learning to meaningful connections within our local community, we believe the world is our classroom.

At every step, we inspire children to wonder, investigate, create, and belong—all while building the strong academic and social-emotional foundations they need for future success.

Come discover a place where play has purpose, every child matters, and learning is an adventure. 💚

Early morning STEM challenge: build a bridge using popsicle sticks, cups, and tape that could support a Hot Wheels car!

Through hands-on exploration, the children developed problem-solving skills, creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance as they tested ideas, made adjustments, and worked through challenges. They also explored early engineering concepts such as balance, stability, structure, and design while strengthening fine motor skills.

Most importantly, they discovered that learning happens through curiosity, experimentation, and having fun!

Once a Co-op kid, always a Co-op kid! Both Melanie and Morgan were Co-op kids and continue the tradition. Melanie is completing her high school co-op program with us and Morgan comes back every year to face paint for our Fun Day! It is incredible to see Co-op kids grow up and continue to give back to their community! ❤️

Happy Pride from all the teachers, parents and children! 🏳️‍🌈

One of our staff always takes Pride to the max, and this year she has some competition from Sammy! NCNS crowned Sammy as the Rainbow Queen 👑🌈

Pride storytimes will again be taking place all of June!

Today we brought out cardboard boxes, tape, and scissors… and the children did the rest.

What started as simple materials turned into race cars, houses with doors, baby cribs, and so much more. Watching their imaginations come to life through teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration was honestly so incredible to see.

Open-ended play really is magic 🦄
